The Piedmont Park Comprehensive Plan is the first plan for Atlanta’s most iconic public green space in a quarter century. This plan, driven by the Piedmont Park Conservancy in partnership with the City of Atlanta, outlines a future vision for the Park’s existing 200 plus acres as well as expanded acreage that extends the current footprint of the Park.
In July 2024, PPC engaged renowned landscape architecture firms Nelson Byrd Woltz and Perez Planning + Design to execute the various stages of plan development. PPC and its partners engaged thousands of Atlanta residents and park visitors—both in person and virtually—to provide feedback on the current state of the park and ideas for its future vision. From start to finish, this process spanned 10 months and resulted in an all-encompassing blueprint for the park’s features, programming, natural spaces, operations, and maintenance.
The plan’s execution will begin later in 2025 with key operational and maintenance improvements. The full plan’s implementation is envisioned to span 10–15 years. Fundraising for capital projects will also begin in 2025. More information on the specific timing of these improvements and the plan’s full execution will be provided on this site later in 2025.
The full Comprehensive Plan is available for download below. Specific sections therein focus on various aspects of the park including operations and maintenance, traffic flow within the park, special event number and cadence, basic amenities, wayfinding and signage and more. Key park improvements and enhancements are broken out in eleven sections representing each portion of the park and are downloadable as separate files below.
